Still riding high atop the ending moments of an aural explosion named ¡Mayday!, the crowd at Knitting Factory Concert House was given a performance by up-and-coming Strange Music artist, Jay Rock and fellow Hype Man Michael Jones that not only kept the vibe going well into the night but made this evening one to be remembered for each and every one of the 1200 devoted fans in attendance.

While in the pit, with a sold-out crowd nearly pushing over the barricade behind me — waving bandanas and throwing up West Side hand gestures — I was able to freely move about, capturing some pretty impressive angles with my trusty Nikon D7000 fitted with Nikon’s least expensive, yet top 10 rated lens, the legendary 50mm f/1.8D.  Taking advantage of the D7000’s ISO sensitivity advancements, I felt comfortable setting the levels to a constant 1600.  Couple that with a wide open aperture of 1.8 and 1/250th of a second as my shutter speed of choice; add a bit of auto white balancing and the shots literally came flooding in.

Upcoming: Tech N9ne @ Knitting Factory Concert House [June 26]

Tech N9ne @ Knitting Factory 2011-06-26

For years my wife has been telling me how much she enjoys Tech N9ne, despite the fact that she really isn’t into hip-hop or rap music as a whole.  Coming from her, that says a lot; and knowing that I’ll be at Knitting Factory Concert House on Sunday, June 18th with my lens hangin’ out to capture the excitement both on-stage and on her face warms the cockles of my heart.

Did I mention that I also get to pop a good friend’s concert cherry with this show?!  That’s right, there are still people in this world whom have not yet had the enjoyment of taking in a live concert.  I know, I was in a great deal of disbelief myself upon hearing him utter those words…

For those of you who already know, earlier this month Tech N9ne dropped his 12th studio album, All 6’s And 7’s; which, by definition, makes an honest appraisal of the world gone mad.  Guests?  Yes, there’s a lot of guest appearances on this release, including: B.o.B., Snoop Dogg, Deftones, Twista and more!

The real question is who will be sharing the stage with Tech N9ne this Sunday?  Answer: Krizz Kaliko, Kutt Calhoun, Big Scoob, Jay Rock, ¡MAYDAY!, Stevie Stone and Tragedy.

Will we see you there?  If so … make sure to get front and center against the barrier and show us your stuff!  Who knows, maybe you’ll be on the Home Page of IShootReno.com before July 1st rolls around?

$25-$55.  All Ages.  Get tickets.
