Reno’s finest female-fronted hip-hop / rock / soul / funk / acoustic crossover band, Knowledge Lives Forever, hosted a CD Release Party yesterday evening entitled The Trilogy … and I Shoot Reno was there to capture the magic. At a little past 10:30 PM, Chari Smith and the first incarnation of her accompanying performers took the stage at The Underground for a no holds barred, dance floor filling, featured artist extravaganza with guests including, but not limited to local favorites Whitney Myer, Gia Torcaso and Mark Sexton with numerous others joining the stage throughout the evening.
This was definitely a fun show to attend, with a solid hour and a half long mix of genres spanning hip-hop, rock, acoustic and reggae with a super-special LED-lit beach ball accompaniment to “Warriors”, as seen in the video we shot from amid the dance floor posted below:

This was the first live music performance I had the opportunity to try out my newest piece of glass, and boy oh boy does the legendary AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED live up to the reviews seen on Amazon and B&H Photo Video. As The Underground is usually pretty dark when it comes to stage lighting, I was prepared with a wide-open aperture of 2.8 and ISO boosted to 6400 for the evening, along with my standard shutter speed of 1/250th of a second, which IMHO, produced some beautiful in-the-moment shots to commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime performance.
