•Ore'nt You Glad I Said Galena•.What we have here is my final "hurrah" in terms of shooting the Milky Way this summer, and this time a bit of planning went into it..It started with the simple idea of wanting to capture the Milky Way's galactic center over the Galena Creek Bridge on I-580/US 395. But how would I know when and from what angle to capture such a scene?.Enter a handy app called @PhotoPills..The app allowed me to find the best day and time to line up my shot from a few different possible locations, and on the day of I did a bit of recon to find the exact location I'd be shooting at. After arriving on-location that afternoon I used the augmented reality portion of the app to see exactly what it would look like later that night…1AM would be perfect!.When we arrived at the spot a little after midnight, we made sure to keep our voices down as there were some residences close by. That didn't stop at least one of the property owners from coming outside and scoping us out, flashlight (and presumably shotgun) in-hand. We waved and kindly said hello. He must've deemed us harmless, as he went back inside without any altercation..So like any fun-loving adventurers, we continued on talking (quietly), snapping long expo pics and drinking some delicious cans from @moderntimesbeer. "Black House" is my new official Milky Way shooting beverage..Once 1AM rolled around, everything lined up as planned and I was able to snap and later stitch together this 11 shot pano. Pretty sweet, right?! Now to start planning for when Milky Way season returns in the spring… .Place this image on your wall, throw pillows, shopping totes, phone cases and more at link in bio.. 2016-08-07 1:08-1:15AM️Nikon D750 ️Rokinon 14mm️ISO 3200 ️f/2.8 ️30 sec (11x stacked)
