What happens when hyphy Bay Area rap meets elevated lifestyles of those in the Reno/Tahoe area? One hell of a fast-spit, intellectually writ(ten) and tightly gripped form of entertainment that can only be made possible by the likes of up-and-coming West Coast hip-hop artist Dreda Dre and the ‘circle of souls who intended to prevent 2012’ aka Ghost Coast Music.
Following Knowledge Lives Forever’s opening set, Dreda Dre and his slew of guests, as seen in the images below and included in the full gallery, had the distinct pleasure of getting the amassing crowd up on their feet with hands (and drinks) in the air in preparation of DJ Quik’s headlining appearance later in the evening.
This collection of artists truly did blow our minds. Having listened to hip-hop since the late 90’s, we’ve heard a lot of rappers and have dissected many a style. Dreda Dre and his guests brought a freshness to the air of The Alley that reeked of Northern California’s finest and all the while maintained an alluring representation of the 5-3-0 (South Lake Tahoe, CA area code) … an allure that had us running to pick up Dreda Dre’s latest, It’z Afficial, out now on Ghost Coast Music over at Amazon MP3 … well worth the $8.91 and infinitely more convenient than losing our front-row spot to hit up the merch table while at the show!
